Body-Mass-Index (BMI) calculator

Body Mass Index (BMI) calculates body fat according to the relationship of weight and height.

  1. If your BMI is less than 20 it is considered to be LOW. This may indicate underweight and may be associated with health problems for some people.
  2. BMI in the range 20-25 is considered to be NORMAL. It indicates a healthy weight for most people.
  3. A BMI of greater than 25 this is considered to be high and indicates overweight for most people.
  4. If your BMI is over 30 this indicates clinical obesity which is believed to increase the risk of developing health problems.

To find your Body Mass Index (BMI), enter your measurements in any of the three calculators below.

Note: You must fill all boxes or the readings will be incorrect. If you are 5 or 6 ft tall exactly, you must put 0 in the inches box. Similarly, if you weigh an exact number of stones you should put 0 in the pounds box.

Anywhere within the normal BMI of 20 to 25 is a healthy weight and no weight in this range is healthier than any other. Wherever you feel comfortable within this range is fine. There is also evidence that a BMI in the 'overweight' range (25-30) could actually be healthier.
